All the pictures in the “Cosmic Clouds” series have been created from images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.

We have taken those images and transformed them from scientific images into pictures of brilliant colour and clarity, showing the complex structure of the nebula.

The picture is based on an image taken by the Hubble telescope in 2005. It shows the giant Whirlpool Galaxy (NGC5194) and its companion galaxy, NGC5195.  The bright spiral structure are long lines of stars and gas, laced with dust. The interaction of the Whirlpool Galaxy with its smaller neighbour is thought to be responsible for the prominent arms.

The image is printed in a 1.2mm thick Aluminium sheet using dye sublimation ChromaLuxe technology. This produces an image that is stunning in its quality and level of detail. Printing on aluminimum results in a glossy image with bright whites and vivid colours.
