Description

The stunning image, which we have entitled “Mother and Child”, features the giant nebula NGC 2014 and its neighbour NGC 2020. Together, these form part of a vast star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, approximately 163,000 light-years away.

The original picture was taken by the Hubble Telescope. The image has then been digitally enhanced to turn it into a stunning artwork. The image is printed in a 1.2mm thick Aluminium sheet using dye sublimation ChromaLuxe technology. This produces an image that is stunning in its quality and level of detail. Printing on aluminimum results in a glossy image with bright whites and vivid colours. Dye sublimation results in an image that is chemically bonded within the surface of the aluminium. This results in an image that does not fade, is resistant to scratches and is waterproof. A life of 50 years is typically quoted for images of this type. The ChromaLuxe Aluminium image need no framing, giving a modern minimalist look.
