Description

Landing Site – an iconic space image. Own a museum-quality print from the Apollo 11 mission – the first mission to land men on the moon.

Details:

The primary objective of Apollo 11 was to complete a national goal set by President John F. Kennedy on May 25, 1961 to perform a crewed lunar landing and return to Earth. Apollo 11 launched July 16, 1969 and landed back on Earth on July 24, 1969.

The photograph shows the Apollo 11 landing site in the Sea of Tranquility, the region of the moon where the Lunar Module “Eagle” touched down on July 20, 1969 – the location where humans first set foot on another world.

While astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Commander, and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr., Lunar Module Pilot, descended in the Lunar Module (LM) “Eagle” to explore the Sea of Tranquility region of the moon, astronaut Michael Collins, Command Module Pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) “Columbia” in lunar orbit.

Crew: NASA astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr.
